Africa in America® Presents...The Yard Show: A Celebration of African American Traditions; a Pop Up event that will reconnect the people in the community to the rhythm of African American Traditions within the African Diaspora. Hosted by Actor/Comedian Norman "Thump" Nixon, Jr., we celebrate 10 years while highlighting the traditions of African American culture, in real-time; the old and the new simultaneously. Throughout the course of the day, families will experience the sounds of West African percussion from Washington D.C.'s own Farafina Kan, honor the iconic Congolese Master Dancer and Drummer Mabiba Baegne, watch a cutting contest (tap dance), Step show, and freestyle contest, watch 3 short films from future black filmmakers, be apart of an Activism panel where we discuss artists' roles in society, and so much MORE!
